On May 11th the world lost one of the greatest Fathers, Grandfathers, Brothers & Husbands ever known. Earnest "Joe" Roth passed away very unexpectedly and now the world will never be the same.

He was born on June 29th, 1949, in Storm Lake, Iowa, son of Henry & Florence Roth. Joe proudly served in the Army from 1971 until his honorable discharge in 1974.

Joe worked as a tire builder for 37 years at Kelly Springfield, Freeport, until his retirement in 2004. Following his retirement in 2005, Joe realized his dream when he purchased The Gun Hut, which he was still operating.

Joe and his brother Dan were a team that brought poisonous snake safety education to schools, Boy Scout troops and other organizations.

He loved the outdoors, target shooting, fishing and was an avid gun and knife collector. He enjoyed reading old Western novels and could never pass up spending time and playing with his grandchildren.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always there to lend a helping hand or whatever he could do. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
